Message Title: Remember Me This Day
Scripture: Luke 23:39-43

Luke 23:39-42
39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said [k]to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
I was in a meeting this past week with the mayor and about 20 Pastors. After the mayor spoke about all the new building projects that were going on in our town and ones that were about to start. He was asked the questions, “What can we do, if anything to help you?”
He put his head down and said, “The rate of suicide in our community is alarming.”
We have three to four attempts every week and one to two successful. He went on to say that it is hitting in every part of the city. From school principles to junior high schools. They have police jobs that no one will even apply for, that he believes people will not due to how dangerous the job is. He was clearly at a lost.
Now, remember he said this to a room full of Pastors. We immediately start to say how we could help in this area. Going into the schools. Having a stronger relationship with the police force. At this point he starts to be political again and we never got anything settle on how we would actually go about doing this.
It reminded me of the above scripture. We are all suffering in some way but they only want to out of the suffering. There is no way out of the suffering without first recognizing who Jesus is and acknowledging we are all sinners. This revelation is what saved the one hanging with Jesus on the cross.
My question today is, Are you only concerned about ending the pain of your suffering or do you want the cure for your suffering? Jesus is the cure. Turn from your sin today. Turn to the cure watch and expect Jesus to change your life. Will we still have pain and disappointment in this life? Absolutely. But, in the life to come we will not.
Be Blessed in Jesus name.

Message Title: Who Are You and Who Do You Serve?
Scripture: Joel 2:12-13; 1Kings 18, 21.

We all have friends and family you don’t believe in God. We all have people we know you say they are Christians and don’t show it at all. Do you ever wonder why someone you know does not believe in God the way you believe? I’m not talking about the random person at the store or gas station you just bumped into. I’m talking about your friends, family. Why do they not know God the way who do? Could the problem be you?
In the verse’s we are about the read I want you to notice that the author tells the people for them to first get right with God and then make a stand. Either God is real and I serve him with everything I got or he’s not.

“Now, therefore,” says the Lord,
“Turn to Me with all your heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
13 So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm  Joel 2:12-13.

Later in the chapter God says my people shall never be ashamed but, before that happened they need to first refocus their heart on him. Let us look at 1 Kings.

And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
1 Kings 21

What he’s saying here is, pick a side. Are you going to serve God or something else? At this point in the story they really need a miracle and at the end of the passage they could not answer him. In other words when things get hard in your life, do you continue to serve God. Proclaim his goodness or do we now keep our mouths shut and remain silent.

36 And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. 1 Kings 18

He says, “I am your servant…” and Fire comes down from heaven.
39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!”

It was after Elijah took a stand that the fire came down and then the people believed.
So, I ask do your friends and family know who you are and who you serve. Not who you preach about to them all the time. Not who you tell them who will punish their sins all the time. The God you count on when you need a miracle. Make a stand let God work is this season in your life and watch how they view God will change.

Be blessed in Jesus name.

Message Title: What Are You Waiting For?
Scriptures: Acts 12:5-10

Acts 12
Peter was therefore kept in prison, but [b]constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands. Then the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and tie on your sandals”; and so he did. And he said to him, “Put on your garment and follow me.” So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the Iron Gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.

I was reading this passage the other day and it really struck me that the Angel of the Lord said, “quickly.”
It got me wondering why? Was Peter just sitting there rubbing his eyes? Was he trying to get one more drink of water before leaving?
And then I thought do we do that? We have been set free by Jesus the Christ. Do we now not hurry to get out of the situation we were in or do we lollygag getting out of it. For example. I speak to women all the time who are victims of domestic violence. The hardest part is not to get them to believe that they should not be getting beat up all the time. It’s to get them to leave the person. There’s a million reason why they can’t or why they shouldn’t leave. They are free but refuse to leave the prison.
Some of us we were told that we stupid and would never amount to anything. Yet, we hold jobs. Make decision everyday on our own. But, when it comes time to really being successful we say no, “I’m stupid.”
We never really give it 100%. We never really leave the prison.

The Bible says in John 8:36
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Jesus did not go to the cross, die for and me so, that we continue to live in prison. We Are Free.
Have you ever known someone who went to jail? And when they got out they were on probation or parole?
For those of us that don’t know this is how this works.
After getting out of jail you have to report to an officer. Sometimes every week. In some cases you can’t even leave the city you live in without his or her permission. They can say, “No,” For almost any reason. They can search your residence at any time unannounced. If you are in the middle of throwing your child a birthday party to bad. My point is this, they got out of jail but they are not free.

Don’t live like this after asking God into your heart and being set free. Don’t keep listening to the old thoughts or people that keep trying to put you in that mental prison. God wants to do amazing things in your Life but you got to get out of the prison. He’s done his part now you do yours and walk away from those things. Those people. Do it quickly, before you find yourself living in a prison you were set free from a long time ago.

Be blessed in Jesus name.
