Message Title: What do you do between Miracles?
Scriptures: Psalms 84:11; James 1:2-4
Psalms 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
James 1:2 ¶ My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
What do you do between
Miracles?
On any given
Sunday you can go to almost any Church and hear a preacher, preach about having
faith in God to perform a miracle on your behalf. You can turn on the radio,
T.V. and log on to the internet and find even more preaching of the same themed
message. We hear these wonderful, heartfelt sermons, get inspired to pray and
seek God. We run home, or wherever we are most comfortable to pray, pray our
little hearts out and wait for the waters to depart. And then nothing. No,
answers, no miracles, just silence. Now, maybe we’re ok, for a little while
like this but sooner or later we all wonder. What is going on? I prayed, I
believed, where is my miracle or at least an acknowledgement that my prayer has
been heard or is being worked on. I look at it like going to a restaurant. The
waiter or waitress takes your order and everyone around is receiving their
food. Eating and paying then walking out and yours is nowhere to be found. Eventually,
you’re going to ask, “Where is your food?” Most likely you will also be a
little upset. Now depending on how long the wait is, you might opt for just
telling the one who took your order forget the whole thing you’re leaving.
Unfortunately our prayer life is sometimes not too much different.
We treat God
as if he were our server with nothing better to do then to wait on us hand and
foot. We forget God is a good Father who will not hold anything good thing from
us.
The LORD gives grace and glory; He does not withhold
the good from those who live with integrity. For the LORD God
is a sun and shield; the LORD grants grace and favor; the LORD will not withhold
any good thing from those who walk blamelessly. Psalms 84:11
We love to focus on the bold part of this
scripture. We speed read through the part where it says, “Who live with
integrity…” then again “who walk blamelessly.” These two parts in this
scripture, takes time to bear fruit. What I mean is, you don’t know if some is
walking with integrity or blamelessly until time has passed. A child who wants
to drive usually doesn’t start driving as soon as the desire to drive becomes
known. There is time that passes to see if the child is responsible enough to
handle to responsibility and there are classes he or she might have to take and
finally there is a test. All of these things are very similar to when we ask
God in prayer something.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye
fall into divers temptations;3 Knowing this, that the trying of
your faith worketh patience.4 But let patience have her perfect
work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4
To answer the question, “What do you do
between miracles?” You wait, know that God heard you. No matter the silence.
Don’t leave the restaurant before getting your food and don’t leave your prayer
room before receiving your miracle.
