Message Title: Protecting What's Yours
Scripture: Isa.55:11; Matt.2:12-15; Jeremiah 29:11; Hebrews 12:17.

Isa 55:11

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Here we have God, telling us that Jesus (my word) would come and do what he was sent to do, which is save the world from their sins.

Matt 2:12-15
12 Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.
13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”
14 When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt,
15 and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
Now, in these scriptures we have God warning that Jesus would be destroyed. We have to remember that Jesus being born and saving his people was prophesized throughout the Old Testament. So, why the warnings? If, God wanted this to be why not just make Jesus invisible every time a guard came around? I’m writing this today to say, even though God has a hope for us to accomplish something it is still our job to protect that dream, goal, and mission.

Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Yes, God has these things in mind but if we don’t protect that we can lose it. We protect that hope dream etc. through obedience to God. We cannot get that word unless we have a personal relationship with God. When the wise men were warned and Joseph was warned, they could have only been warned because they had that relationship with God. Therefore, when they received the warning they did not think it strange and were able to act upon it.

Hebrews 12:17
17 For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.

Here we have a different story. Esau, did not count his birthright important at the time, sold it and could never get it back even when he cried to get it back. Don’t lose out on your blessing because you think it’s too hard to obtain it or its going to take too long. Whatever the reason is to stop, push through. Protect what belongs to you. That hope that God has for you. Being obedient to God is your first step in protecting it.

Be blessed in Jesus name.
