Message Title: Life or Death Desirer's
Scripture: James 1:12-15; Deut.10:16
Life or Death Desirer’s
God has created us to love and to be
loved. To desirer and to be desired. He has given us the ability respect one
another be also to be respected. There are plenty of other things that mankind
desirer’s that were actually created by God. Most of the time it is not what we
want in life that creates the problem it is how we go about it trying to obtain
it.
12 Blessed is
the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive
the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 Let
no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted
by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each
one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then,
when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is
full-grown, brings forth death.
James 1:12-15
It’s not necessary the
desirer itself. It’s that when we don’t receive whatever it is that we are
desiring we take matter into our own hands and we act outside the word of God
to obtain it.
I said earlier we were
created to love and be loved. We see in marriage’s that a man or women wants to
be loved, wants to feel beautiful. Things God has created us to want. Now for
one reason or another the man or women in this case does not feel that their
partner is making them feel beautiful or loved. They now seek that desire in
other places. Second they could want more than the spouses love and seek in
other areas. The problem with this is that everything outside of God way
produces sin and all sin will eventually produce death.
Our heart desirer has
been corrupt due to the fall of man way back when Adam and Eve ate the
forbidden fruit. All addiction and sin is based on the desirer I have in my own
heart.
I hear a lot with be
people who struggle with addiction that certain things triggers them and they
relapse. Those triggers only trigger a desire in your heart that you want to
fill so badly that you will go back to your addiction or your particular sin.
How do we combat this?
Therefore circumcise the
foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer.
Deut.10:16
This is might sound a
little weird but here’s what God is meaning. He commanded Abraham to circumcise
all male children. It represented man’s fleshly way of doing things. In other
words taking matter into our hands. Not trusting God that he gave us desirer’s
and he would also fulfill those desirer’s. We must circumcise our heart and do
it Gods way and only Gods way. If not we actually cause death to enter in the
very thing we desirer. Just like the example of the marriage we want to fill
loved or wanted, we are not getting it from our spouse, we look for it in
someone else therefore killing our marriage or anything other relationship that
is connected to that desire. I used a marriage here as an example but it
transfer to all aspect of our lives.
We think we should have
received the promotion at work so, now you’re bitter toward the company or the
person who did get the promotion. Now the job you at one time prayed to get is
no longer somewhere you want to work at and you are miserable. Instead of
circumcising your heart asking God to place you where he wants you and waiting
for that day to happen. You just become the grumpy person at work no one likes.
Before you dive into your
next desirer be sure to ask God to fulfill it and do it his way before you cause
death to come into a situation that you were originally supposed have and
enjoy.
